 Ten-hut Troopers!

The Eradicators DLC for Starship Troopers: Terran Command will drop on the 26th of May!

Time to declassify a comprehensive overview of the new story campaign, units, and gameplay mechanics included in the DLC. Review the following intel to prepare for deployment!

A Story campaign with Territory Mode mechanics

Although we originally stated that this DLC would not include a story campaign, we have decided to change course. As we developed the expansion's exclusive content—including new units, abilities, Arachnid variants, and environments—it became clear that these features deserved to be introduced through an immersive narrative.

The gameplay is driven by Territory Mode mechanics, but is tied together in a unique 10-mission story campaign: You - and your faithful adjutant - will assist Doctor Kraus, the lead scientist on Planet Ghutana, with his research initiatives. This narrative culminates in the Hercules Program: a multi-staged operation with the ultimate goal of capturing the Hydra, a monstrous Arachnid variant endemic to Ghutana.

You’ll be using Territory Mode mechanics such as capturing Territory Points to gain resources and spend these to unit new units, upgrades and construct defenses. Meanwhile, in addition to the story-specific events that take place during missions, you’ll be fighting against the dynamic Arachnid AI we have developed for the Territory Mode.

Chemical, Radiation and Biological weapons

This expansion features 10 new player units. These are introduced progressively during the campaign and are also playable in standalone Territory Mode missions via the Eradicators Battle Group.

Equipped with experimental and prototype weaponry, these units represent the cutting edge of Federation technology. Highlights include:

XM3-C Alchemist: This lightly armored biped is equipped to unleash a cocktail of deadly acid-based weapons. Its robotic arm also allows it to construct various defensive structures and weapons.

Missile Specialists: This squad is equipped with a multi-barreled Rocket Launcher to counter heavily armored threats. They also have the authorization to call in strikes from any Missile Silo in the sector. The latter can be deployed on any delivery platform.

XM11-K Annihilator: This experimental configuration of the M11 biped is armed with a powerful radiation weapon and dual missile launchers. In addition, its nuclear reactor can boost the performance of nearby Irradiator squads.

Horde Handlers: These specialists direct a pack of pheromone-drugged Bugs against enemy units. They are equipped with air pressure guns that fire poison darts. The unit can also construct Bug Cages, new defensive emplacements that release bio-chemically reprogrammed Arachnids against attacking hostiles.

XM9-B Overseer: This heavy biped specializes in advanced pheromone weapon technology. It can launch “Pheromone Disruptor” darts that turn the larger Arachnids types against their own hive, or “Deep Intelligence Manipulation” (D.I.M.) darts to take direct control over an individual specimen.

New Arachnid abilities

Each of the large Arachnid variants - Tankers, Scorpions, Acid Grenadiers, Plasma Grenadiers, Immolators and Ravagers - now have a unique ability that you can use after capturing a specimen through the Overseer unit’s D.I.M. dart launcher.

Hostile tankers and Scorpions will also employ their new abilities against you - so if your troopers get in range, expect an unpleasant surprise!

Ghutana’s new Arachnid variants

The harsh, polluted environment of Ghutana is a breeding ground for various new Arachnid variants:

Buzzer Drone: A small Arachnid variant bred for speed and chaos. When an enemy is nearby, the creature uses its wings to dash across the terrain with great speed.

Geiger Bug: A sickly and heavily mutated Arachnid type which detonates when it attacks an enemy, or when it is killed. This explosion deals short range blast damage, as well as radiation damage over a wider radius.

Acid Grenadier: The Acid Grenadier is a large, well armored Bug type that launches globs of a volatile substance toward their enemies. These projectiles generally transmute into corrosive acid on impact, but curiously, some globs have been found to contain live Buzzer Drones. How this symbiosis between Acid Grenadiers and Buzzers is initiated is currently unknown.

Territory Mode content recap

Every unit, technology and ability that the Eradicators bring to the story campaign is also available for standalone Territory Mode missions.

As with any other Territory Mode Battle Group, you can unlock new cosmetics and play missions on the planets from any other DLC that you own (as well as the base game’s Kwalasha planet). In addition, you can play Territory Mode missions on the new Ghutana planet with all of the other Battle Groups.

That’s all for now, Trooper! Do your part and wishlist The Eradicators DLC today!
