V1.0 is out now

socials
Published on July 22, 2026

The wait is officially over. Nightmare Frontier has officially left Early Access and entered Version 1.0.

To everyone who supported us during Early Access, reporting bugs, sharing feedback, and sticking with us through every patch. Thank you.

Your passion and insights shaped Nightmare Frontier into what it is today. We truly couldn't have built this game without such an incredible community behind us.

Major 1.0 Highlights & Changes

  • Overhauled Narrative: We have drastically rewritten the events of the story behind the game to deliver a much richer lore and world-building experience!
  • Item Transfer & Swap (Most Requested QoL): Effortlessly manage gear between characters in both Hideout and Raid modes.
    • Transfer: Overwrites the target’s loadout (replaced items move to Backpack/Stash; class-incompatible items stay put).
    • Swap: Swaps full loadouts between two characters while keeping incompatible items in place.
  • Overboard Mechanics: The Docks now feature open-sea access! Pushing any unit into the water results in instant defeat.
  • Docks District Art Overhaul: Brand-new custom buildings and floor art bring the Docks district to life.
  • Horror Status: Scavengers attacking Dreadweavers born of their fear gain the Horror status, raising Nightmare Pressure by 1 point each turn until they slay any Dreadweaver to overcome their fear.
  • Dreadweaver Susceptibilities: Certain Dreadweavers now take significantly increased damage from specific effects (Burning, Plague, Push) or damage types (Ranged). Check Unit Tooltips/Tutorials for details!
  • Multi-Level Upgrades: The Upgrade Popup now shows all available item levels, letting you upgrade items directly to any level you can afford—no more upgrading one tier at a time.
  • Clearer LoS & LoF Visuals:
    • Line of Sight: Hovering cells during movement highlights all visible units and targets in white.
    • Line of Fire: Target indicators now show clear LoF paths—if blocked, the line grays out and marks the obstructing object with a gray cross.

Save files

Before you dive in, please take a moment to read these details about save compatibility:

  • Save Wipe: We are performing a save wipe right now for the 1.0 release.
  • Old Early Access Saves: Pre-1.0 Early Access saves will not work on the new 1.0 version of the game.
  • Legacy Branch Available: If you want to finish up an old playthrough, don't worry! We are keeping the old Early Access build active as a legacy branch on Steam for a little while, so you can roll back anytime to finish your existing runs.

About the game:

Behold the first-ever Tactical Extraction Looter where you pit your courage and leadership against fears made manifest: the Dreadweavers. Lead a band of scavenger roughnecks into a devastated boom town of the alternative 1900s. Get in, face the monsters, grab what you can carry and get out. Alive.

Base game price

With the transition to Version 1.0, the price of the base game has been updated to $24.99. This price adjustment reflects the massive amount of new content, systems, and polish added throughout Early Access and into full release. We are deeply committed to delivering value for your support, and we thank you for helping us make Nightmare Frontier a complete, feature-packed experience.
