Scramble received its first twin engine bomber, the Dornier 17, back in 2025, and along with the Dornier came a whole suite of dogfight mechanics to support bomber attack gameplay. Today we want to highlight our second twin engine Luftwaffe bomber, the Junkers 88, soon to join Scramble.
The Ju 88 was originally developed as a fast bomber capable of outrunning enemy interceptors. The pre-war prototype aircraft was indeed fast, exciting the head of the Luftwaffe over its tactical prospects, but the engineering compromises and ambitions required to upgrade the airframe to an operational asset meant that the Ju 88 entered World War II at speeds still vulnerable to enemy interceptors.
Our Ju 88 in Scramble is the fastest bomber in the game, and any Ju 88s left unbothered will quickly escape the area of play and advance to their targets. The Ju 88 realized its high speed in part due to its small crew and low defensive turret count, so Scramble players will find this aircraft particularly vulnerable to lateral slashing attacks.
