RuneQuest: Warlords | Game Balance, Audio & Polish Update

This update introduces increased stability, refined controller support, corrected audio behavior, and multiple gameplay and visual improvements aimed at delivering smoother combat, clearer feedback, and more consistent mission flow.

Audio and Sound Fixes

  • Restored correct default audio configuration, ensuring normal and consistent sound levels for players after update

  • Fixed sound effects that were:

    • not stopping correctly

    • triggering inconsistently

  • Improved hit reaction barks:

    • increased variety

    • reduced repetition

  • Fixed SFX persistence issues (e.g. charge / ability sounds not clearing)

 

Combat, Abilities and AI

  • Fixed counterattack behaviour and interaction with Zone of Control

  • Corrected Zone of Control UI indicators

  • Fixed Sentry / Overwatch logic:

    • cooldowns now trigger correctly when used

  • Fixed incorrect ability logic:

    • Warlord’s Fervor activation

    • Curse of Thed behavior affecting ZoC and reactions

  • Adjusted AI hero behaviour on higher difficulties

    • AI no longer rushes heroes into ZoC danger

 

Missions and Campaign Flow

  • Fixed mission-specific issues affecting progression and clarity:

    • dialogue trigger issues

    • interaction triggers not matching updated layouts

  • Fixed cases where:

    • objectives did not complete correctly after loading

    • bonus objectives granted incorrect rewards

  • Improved tutorial clarity where missing guidance caused confusion

 

UI, Army Management &amp; Gameplay Clarity

  • Fixed incorrect or misleading unit type and passive ability texts

  • Improved Hero Upgrade visibility:

    • added icons showing which unit / hero receives the upgrade

    • updated and clarified upgrade descriptions

  • Added HP bars visibility when units take damage

  • Improved backstab indicator visibility

  • Removed confusing campaign options that were not intended for player use

 

Visual and VFX Fixes

  • Fixed missing or detached VFX, including cases after loading saved games

  • Fixed animation issues:

    • looping animations

    • disappearing units during abilities

    • Improved lighting issues in specific missions

  • Fixed interaction with destructible objects near obstacles

  • Improved dissolve timing for destroyed objects (gates, barricades)
